Solder to repair ram?
This will be another quick one. Yes, as the title says, I had to solder a small wire from a via to a pad on a stick of ram. The reason for doing this was to test whether or not a ram slot was dead on a desktop that I was given. That will have a later post, as it was… well, filthy. It was a strange one, it took laptop sized DIMMs.

And there it is. Very small, and I ended up spreading solder more than I intended. Though I left how it shows there due to the fact that after removing the bridges, the connection was made and I did not want to fight it anymore honestly.
And guess what? It worked! I mean I knew it should, but it still surprised me. I started the computer, and not only did it post, but it saw the additional 4GB and ran long enough to test! Obviously, I did not leave it in. I prefer having matching sticks of ram, and did not trust this to be a permanent fix. It did show however, that sometimes you can fix something you thought was destined for the landfill.
